As Frank recovers from being shot, the entire city is sending the Commissioner well wishes – in the form of flowers and many delicious treats – pastrami from Carnegie; cheesecake from Junior’s, salami from Faicco’s.
In this scene, the family enjoys cheesecake from Junior’s. Junior’s is a New York institution, making it’s stamp on the cheesecake world since 1950. What makes theirs different – a sponge cake crust instead of graham cracker. Henry reminisces about the summer they opened – he had 16″ biceps, the Dodgers were in a playoff run, and Mona Lisa was playing on the radio.
As the cheesecake is being served, the family passed the coffee service including a sugar bowl and creamer in Symphonie Gold by Haviland.
