At a State Dinner for the President of Indonesia, Sam sees Laurie while she is with one of her Johns – much to his dismay. After introducing Laurie (aka Britney Rollins) to the First Lady (played by the incomparable, the incredible, the one and only Stockard Channing), he begs her not to go home with this new interest, even dramatically offering her $10,000. This offer offends and angers Laurie who storms out. As Sam sits dejectedly at the table, we can hear Pachelbel’s Canon in D playing softly, almost hauntingly, in the background. On the table are Mikasa Park Lane wine glasses and iced tea glasses (being used as water glasses).
