Robin’s youngest sister, Katie, (played by a young Lucy Hale) is visiting New York City, and the How I Met Your Mother crew couldn’t be more excited to show her the sites, especially Ted. Embracing his architectural geek, Ted is fixated on taking Katie to the Empire State Building and educating her on every design fact related to the building. However, Robin is too preoccupied to notice Ted’s nerding as she is obsessively worrying about her sister’s intent to lose her virginity to her very immature, very inappropriate two month relationship.

As the friends wait in line to get to the top of the building, they each recant their own “loss of virginity” story to each other, filled with comical awkwardness and cringe-worthy details.

The episode opens with a very sick Robin. Ted is taking care of her and decides to kiss her despite her symptoms. The scene then switches, two days later, to a very sick Ted grasping a mug of hot tea. In between his ill-ridden fingers we see the beautiful floral Elizabeth pattern by Pier 1. This mug features flourishing flowers against a yellow band, bordering a sage green background glaze. This mug is just the thing you need to help that nasty winter cold, just ask Ted!
