Gilmore Girls – Season 1, Episode 1 – Homer Laughlin Fiesta Rose

Gilmore Girls  | Season 1, Episode 1

In the first scene of Gilmore Girls, we find Lorelai begging Luke for coffee. As she sits down we see the first of many many china patterns that will be used throughout the show. Fiesta Rose by Homer Laughlin. You can see the Fiesta Rose Sugar Bowl, Creamer, and Tray seated on the table.

Rose, which is a pale pink, was available from 1986-2005. The older version of Rose, which is more of a dusty rose color, was available from 1950-1959.

Fiesta, or Fiestaware as it is also known, is the most popular line of china made by the Homer Laughlin company. It is actually the most popular china in America today. The company was founded by two brothers – Homer and Shakespeare Laughlin. The company started in Ohio, but moved to Newell West Virginia in 1902. Homer Laughlin continues to produce the Fiesta line, in a variety of colors, in Newell to this day (though there was a break in production from 1973-1986).

Fiesta was originally introduced in 1936 in 5 colors, Red (that looks orange), Blue, Green , Yellow and Old Ivory.  Turquoise was added 1937.
