Political Week! Parks and Recreation- Season 7, Episode 9

Parks and Recreation  | Season 7, Episode 9

It is #PoliticalWeek here at Moshi Motif and to kickstart the patriotic homage to our 2016 election season are the goofy, passionate, nerdy personalities of Benn Wyatt, (played by the witty genius of Adam Scott) and Leslie Knope, (played by the hysterical Amy Poehler, who is also the writer for the show).

Ben is running for Congress in the futuristic 2018 Congressional Election and, with Leslie by his side, nothing seems impossible. Both Ben and Leslie are gearing up for their roles as a political couple, yet the role of “candidate’s wife” is something Leslie must get familiar with as she has continuously been the political matriarch of the family. As Ben’s fierce campaign manager Jennifer Barkley, (portrayed by another comical genius, Kathryn Hahn) puts it to Leslie, “If you were just a ding dong, I’d slap a flag pin on you and pour some valium down your throat, and just shove you behind the podium way up stage…it’s the smarties that freak people out.” Leslie, being a “smarty that freaks people out”, doesn’t want to be part of the antiquated tradition of the “Pie-Mary” (a play on words for the “Primary”), a baking competition for the political candidates wives.  To defy tradition and change the roles of “baking wife” and “working husband”, Leslie and Ben discuss ways to change their roles in the Pie-Mary, ultimately deciding that Ben will enter the competition instead of Leslie, with a sweet calzone!

In this scene, we see a pitcher seated on the counter in striking shades of red, typical of Le Creuset. The Le Creuset Red Pitcher is made of durable stoneware to keep your hot beverages hot or your cold beverages cold. This red pitcher is a perfect patriotic nod towards the beginning of this Political Week!
