The art show is fast approaching, and Anna-Kat couldn’t be more excited to share her artistic work with the Westport world! There’s just one problem: she drew her mother comparable to a “beach ball with gloves.”
After empowering her daughters to embrace their bodies and not care what the world thinks, Katy finds herself eating her words as she looks upon Anna-Kat’s monstrous depiction of herself, imagining all the Westport moms snickering and whispering at the art show.
Determined to convince Anna-Kat to draw mommy as a “different shape” and produce a new drawing for the art show, Katy leaves Doris in charge of the Otto children. Doris takes this opportunity to whip Oliver (who has been disrespectful to his mother), and Taylor (who refuses to consume anything but green juice), into shape. She creepily whispers “Welcome to Korea Town…the sketchy part” as she prepares to teach the Otto kids some manners.
Doris prepares her meat stew, and informs her two wards that they are not allowed to leave the table until everyone is finished. This, of course, becomes an issue as Taylor is sticking to her guns and only drinking juices, forcing Oliver and Taylor to be stuck at the table all day and into the night. Finally, a very drunk Greg and a content Katy return with Anna-Kat from the art show. Putting an end to the dining table prison sentence, Greg steals Taylor’s bowl and slops down every last drop of the succulent, meaty liquid, unaware that he is wearing most of the stew on his shirt.
Amidst the Doris babysitting extravaganza, we notice three very unique patterns adorning the dining table. It is expected that nothing would match in the Otto home as conformity and uniformity are the last two things on Katy’s anti-cookie cutter brain.
The Matceramica Aqua Bowl: Held in Oliver Otto’s hands, this bowl features a beautiful, light blue glaze against an embossed, beaded trim. The simple, yet classy, blue glaze allows this bowl to be mix n’ matched with a variant of colors and patterns. In this episode, Oliver chugs soup from the dish. However, this bowl is also perfect for cereal, ice cream, salad, or serving up your favorite fruits and veggies!
The Threshold Aqua Medallion Bowl: Placed directly in front of Taylor, this bowl features an Asian styled design with a bold, green medallion painted at either side of the bowl bordered by stenciled outlines of the same medallion against durable white stoneware. Although used for stew in this specific role, the versatile bowl is perfect for cereal, ice cream, salad, as well as snacking on nuts, fruits, or veggies!
The Galaxy Jade Salt and Pepper Shakers by Baum Brothers: Nestled on the dining table, this pair of salt and pepper shakers boast a bold, unique jade (green) glaze painted on the top of each shaker, blending into a sponged, dark brown glaze on the bottom against bamboo-styled lines featured in the underglaze.
We can thank Katy Otto for inspiring this trio of unique, quirky patterns that mesh together perfectly for a mix n’ match table setting!
