This Is Us-Season 1, Episode 12- Pfaltzgraff Hopscotch Dish Towel

This Is Us  | Season 1, Episode 12

In honor of St. Valentine, we wanted to celebrate tv’s most beloved couple: Jack and Rebecca Pearson.

Rebecca Pearson describes her husband, Jack, “He’s pretty much perfect. I’ve seen what else is out there”, and we couldn’t have said it any better.

In another touching episode of This Is Us, Rebecca (Mandy Moore) is nearing the end of her time as a living incubator to three growing babies. Her patience is non-existent, her anger surpasses Zeus, and she’s hotter than a Louisiana summer day, using the freezer as her instant air conditioning. In the midst of her pregnant rage (and kicking Jack out of the house), she forgets Jack’s birthday and declares she is the, “…worst most terrible wife in the whole world.”

After scouring the house for ingredients to bake a homemade cake, she comes up with left over Chinese food and a meager supply of sugar. Without a car, she is forced to walk to the nearest store to gather her ingredients. It just so happens the nearest store is a “Liquor and More” shop that only has banana muffins and Twinkies. Being the innovative wife and soon-to-be mommy that she is, Rebecca ices the banana muffin using the cream from the Twinkie, sticks a candle on top, and purchases a Pittsburgh Steelers “Terrible Towel” as a loving gift.

Throughout this adorable testimony of love, we notice a Pfaltzgraff Hopsctoch Dish Towel laying over the counter by the sink. This pattern features a blue checkered design adorned by ruby red cherries.

*Interesting note! This episode is set in 1980 however the Hopsctoch pattern was actually produced in 1993, 13 years after the “Big Three” were born. Are Jack and Rebecca secret time travelers?
